The project 'Democracy in Practice' is a collaboration between the Youth Migration Service of the KJA, the communication agency icon, and the startup and political Think Tank Transatlantika.

The project sponsor is the Youth Migration Service (JMD) of the Catholic Youth Agency KJA Cologne gGmbH, a non-profit and recognized provider of youth welfare services. The JMD offers counselling and courses for newly arrived young people with an international background to facilitate their integration and participation in our society.

The agency icon, led by Eva Rusch, has done numerous successful projects with public and private sector clients in the Cologne area. icon specializes in the field of public relations with a focus on social design.

Transatlantika is a social startup that specializes, among other things, in creative forms of political education to strengthen democracy on both sides of the Atlantic. The concept of the 'Democracy in Practice' project is based on the work of Dr. Tim Lücke, who has already successfully tested parts of the workshop series at an American college and an international school in Berlin.
